What is it?
Myofascial cupping is a modern adaptation of the ancient Chinese art of cupping therapy. By creating a suction or vacuum, cupping therapy is used to release rigid soft tissue, drain excess fluids and toxins, loosen adhesions, and lift connective tissue, while bringing blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles.
How I use it
This type of treatment is fantastic on overworked or muscle groups with restricted range of movement (ROM). By bringing healthy blood flow to the area and combined with joint movement can allow the affected muscles to relax without the need for long periods of deep tissue work to breakdown the rigid areas. Cupping can leave round ‘bruise’ like marks on the body but these disappear in a couple of days and are not painful.
